How could I make a tank or battleship look as if it is firing a round. What should I use to make the smoke and fire, how should I properly use the material and how would I realisticly paint the smoke and flames?

Well for a smoke effect you could use dry ice, although it doesn't look like smoke per se. How about the firecrackers, it wouldn't think they would cause too much damage, but if you're trying to do it on command that would be tough.....hopefully somebody from special effects in Hollywood can answer your question better.

Hello Again Curious !

I am guessing that this would be for the diorama's we've discussed earlier ?

Most guns of the current time-frame put out very little smoke... cotton inserted in the barrel and pulled VERY thin could work. You could air-brush some gray into it for smoke, and orange-white for flame.

Realistically though... the time the smoke and fire are actually visible is VERY short. It would be more sensible to model the moment before or after !

Now one thing I've done is to take a digital picture and then use Adobe Photoshop to add-in the smoke and flame.

Again... Good Luck and Happy Modeling
