More poison toothpaste entered the country. This time from Africa.
Could poison products be a new terrorist tactic? Wouldn't this be a way to get biological agents into the country as well? What safeguards do we have in place, if any?

terrorism is the strategdy of attacking the populous by means of fear and social manipulation. if poisoning a product, or just the threat of such a tactic becomes well-known, their goal has been accomplished.

what i dont understand is why such hasnt happened already. i mean, why do they feel the need to make grandiose attacks when to be more efficently, smaller numerous attacks would have a more destabilizing effect

Because of the spelling errors on the label and similar ingredients to the chinese tooth paste, it probably passed through south africa on it's way here and else where. Could have been on purpose, if only they could spell?
There are very few safe guards. At least in this case they were labeled. The FTC says if a US company uses imported ingredients, but packages it here, it can be labeled "made in the USA".
The ingredients or the product, either could be doctored.
If we had an origin of ingredients law, then somewhere it would have a list of where the raw materials for the tooth paste came from. If fraudulent, then it would be another opportunity for "mis-spelling" and an audit trail for security.

It could be construed as such, if we knew what
the 'toothpaste terrorists' were trying to promote as an agenda.
It basically is because we have no restrictions on what China sends us and we owe them too much for footing the bill for the war in Iraq so we cannot crack down on the crap they are putting in the food, meds, dog food, toothpaste etc.

What I find disturbing is that even our toothpaste is being made overseas. How many other personal care and food products are coming from abroad? How can there be any protection in place for preventing tainting of these items?

1) the link above is broken

2) a terrorist attack is meant to support a political issue, what issue do you suggest the 'toothpaste terrorists' are trying to support?
