There is no tax to bring money into or out of the United States, unless that amount would constitute a gift in which case Federal gift tax may apply, though only millionaires should really concern themselves with gift tax.

The United States limits how much money can be brought in the U.S., it is less than 10,000.00 USD. You can go to Irelandand leagally bring with you 9,999.99 without penalty. What the penalty is I don't know for sure, I'm sure you can Google it and find out.
