When a person "comes out of the closet", it means that they are admitting that they are either homosexual (gay) or bi-sexual.
I think it might be a variation of "skeletons in the closet", which are secrets that a person doesn't want discovered.
Another variation is the word "outed", which is when a secretly gay/bi-sexual person is exposed by someone else.
