Hold on there, a cash cow is supposed to be something we get money FROM not something we pour money INTO.
Billions, trillions, have and will be spent to stabilize a country we destabilized in the first place. Oil? Fugheddaboutit, production is down and constant sabotage will keep it down for years to come. If we want to assure ourselves fifty years of foreign occupation while waiting for these Iraqi 'leaders' to be able to run a country we will be mortgaging our future
financially, morally and defensively.
Iraq doesn't want us there anymore than we would want an occupying power, whats so hard to understand about that? The whole area has been fighting each other for centuries, why should it stop now?

If they are undermining the US, they are really foolish. Iran is waiting in the wings to take over as soon as the US pulls out. If the Iraqis are trying to the US to fail, I think it would mean they are in cahoots with the Iranians.
