A light year is the distance light can travel in one year.
If it is 78 million light years away, it took 78 million years to arrive. Don't think this to death!

78 million years ago.

A light year is a measure of distance: it's how long light can travel in one year. Light goes at the speed of c = 3.0*10^8 m/s, so multiply that by a year (in seconds) to get the # of meters it goes in a year.

What you see is light. So, the image travels at c.
