y - y1 = m(x - x1) where m is the slope of the line and x1 and y1 are points on the line.
To get slope, use (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)
Say x1 = -2 , y1 = 4 , x2 = 6 , y2 = 0
Slope is: (0 - 4)/(6 + 2) = -4/8 = -1/2
This is m. Use that to get the equation of the line.

The equation of a line is equal to y=mx+b, where m=slope, and b=y-intercept. Find the slope of the line with your two points, (-2,4) and (6,0). To find the slope find the: Change of Y/Change of X. So here, it would be (4-0)/(-2-6), which equals -1/2. So then plug that back into M and then put one of your points in for x and y then solve for B.

x1, y1 = -2, 4
x2, y2 = 6, 0
y1 = 4 when x1 = -2
and y2 = 0 when x2 = 6
Change in x = 6 - (-)2 = 8
Change in y = 0 - 4 = -4
Slope m = y2 - y1 / x2 - x1 = -4 / 8 = -1/2
When x = 0, y = 3 (since a change of +2 in x results in a change of -1 in y) . So intercept c = 3
The equation of the straight line in the form y = mx + c is thus given by
y = (-1/2) x + 3

The basic equation of a line is y = mx + b.
First, find the slope
m = (4-0)/(-2 -6) = 4/(-8) = -1/2 so that
y = -x/2 + b Now substitute either sets of points and solve for b
0 = (-1/2)*6 + b => b = 3 so the final equation is
y = (-1/2)*x + 3

first you have to find the slope of the line by the formula m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1) which in your case will be -1/2. then using the value of x and y (from any one of the two points) and m, find the y-intercept according to y=mx+c. when you get c, simply put the value of m and c in the formula and you get the equation.

slope = (change in y)/(change in x) = (0-4)/(6+2) = -4/8 = -1/2
point slope form: y-y1= m(x-x1)
Use the point (6,0)
y-0 = -1/2(x-6)
y = -1/2x +3
