Oy, as everyone mentioned, windows and intel are two different noncompetiting things. Everyone else explained the techiniqual jargon so I'll explain it in a simple form. Basically, what you are asking is if you should go with a chicken or a television. More to the point, Windows and Intel are related only in that they both deal with computers. Since you are interested in buying a PC not a Mac (Macs are Apple computers), then you are pretty much garunteed to buying windows. And since you're buying a new computer you'd be buying the latest version of Windows, which is Windows XP or Windows XP professional if the computer is for work-related stuff. However not all PCs use Intel. Pretty much, if you want to go for arguably better quality, higher price, and a brand name, go with Intel. If you are looking for a cheaper computer, look for a computer with AMD. Now, I know you're probably thinking how do you tell which computer has Intel and which has AMD? It's very simple actually. When you go to a store to buy the computer, take a look at their displayed computer. If you're buying a laptop, then the Intel or AMD logo will be displayed on a sticker-like thing on the bottom right or bottom left corner of the laptop (make sure the laptop is open). If you are buying a desktop, then on the front of the computer, not the monitor (monitor is the box that looks like a t.v., computer is the box with all the software in it), the intel or AMD logo will be displayed there. No matter what PC you buy, the Intel or AMD logo will be displayed on the computer itself. Both Intel and AMD love to get their names out whereever they can, so it'll be easy to spot their logos. If you are looking for a computer for private use (for like simple games or writing) then I recommend getting a Gateway or Dell and look for AMD processors (these will be the cheapest computers). If you are looking for a computer for your office or travel, then you should get a durable computer such as a Toshiba with an Intel processor. That pretty much sums up all you need to know. Glad I could help ya.

Intel is a processor brand not an operating system. Probably the question you are meaning to ask is should you buy Intel or AMD. I personally bought an AMD dual core processor on my new computer. Make sure you do a LOT of research and find out EXACTLY what you want before you buy a computer.
With 256 RAM, I doubt you will be able to support a dual core processor or Windows Vista, you are pretty much stuck with what you have unless you upgrade your components.

Intel Makes Processors.
Windows Makes Operationg Systems.
You Want a Intel Processor & Microsoft System.

Something Like a Core2 Duo (Intels New Processor) And 1Gig or 2Gigs of Ram with XP or Vista Will suit You.

Ask a salesman for help

One is a processor and one is an operating system-2 totally different things. Windows runs on Intel and AMD. My dad fixes and builds computers. He recommends an AMD over and Intel processor. You should probably do some more research and decide what you are using it for first. Ask a saleperson since you don't seem to know much.

They're two different things. Intel is a processor, just like AMD. Windows is an operating system or OS, just like Macintosh.

Maybe what you're asking is what type of OS you should go for. Well, it would really depend on what your needs are. If you're more into multimedia like editing videos and pictures, then I suggest you go for Mac. But if your just for browsing the web with the occasional book report to type, well I guess you can settle for Windows.

Well to start intel mainly runs windows but is can also run another operating system called linux so really intel is just hard ware for ur comp while windows is a operating system.
P.S. if you chose to get a intel upgrade go with linux it is so much better and its free.

Intel is a processor, and Windows is an operating system (two completely different things). You need to learn a little more about computers before you buy anything.

"Windows" is an operating system, and "Intel" is a manufacturer of Processors(CPU). if you have "Windows XP" installed in your Computer(PC), I advice you to keep it , and stay with this system, until you learn a bit more about computers ,before you start upgrading or buying a new PC. I recommend yo to do the following:
1.-Click "Start"
2.-Click "Help and Support", and look for "Glossary", an read about what is a "Processor" and its function, and do the same with "System", and then you will start to make your own conclusions.
Good Luck.

Intel is not an OS. The world's largest manufacturer of computer chips. Windows run on Intel machines, as well as on AMD and others.
