The flu pandemic did not end WWI. There was an armistice and the flu came along at about the same time, but did not encourage the sides to put away their guns.

If the bird flu virus goes human in Iraq, it will infect our troops as well as any insurgents. And, it will spread to non-warring countries and take the lives of totally innocent people. If this comes to pass, we will easily lose many more than the 3500-4000 troops already dead, and those flu deaths could not be described in anyway leading to any kind of victory.

I hope it doesn't happen.

Pandemics are a good means of populations control. We are due for one shortly, however bird flue is all hype. I vote for SARS.
