My sister's kids brought it over and I let them hook it up to the Widescreen in the Living Room. I was really excited because all I have heard about is how great it is.

Boy was I dissapointed. I fellt like I was playing some kind of game in Kindergarten. The graphics aren't that great, and the people look like Leggo people. Is it just the fact that you actually get to m ove around when you play the cool part?

I mean, if I wanted to move around playing a game of Tennis or Baseball I'd go out and play the real thing.

I just don't get it.

Link - if you don't care about graphics why don't you just buy Pong?

Its not a console for traditional gamers.

The apeal of the Wii is that is designed to appeal to people who have never or only occasionaly play games. Nintendo's strategy is not to compete with Sony or MS's core markets but to forge their own market.

It is working but their product just isnt that appealing to traditional gamers. Apart from Zelda and Paper Mario, most of the other games are either bad PS2 ports or family mini games using the Wiimote.

I think the Wii is perfect for people with young kids or who socialise a lot. The Wii excels at same room multiplayer but most existing gamers have grown up with online mulitplayer and waving a Wiimote around your head like a spac just doesnt compare to chainsawing someone's face off in Gears of War.

Wii sports isn't about the graphics, it's about the interaction between the players that makes it such a fun game. I don't know how old your nieces and nephews are, but if you can get a few guys around your age playing Wii sports, I bet you'll have lots of fun just trash talking with each other. What's more fun than beating your friend in tennis or rolling a strike to win. Wii sports is not meant to be a complicated game. It's just an introduction to the different uses for the Wii-mote.

Try playing other games, like Mario Party or Smooth Moves. They have better graphics than Wii sports, and they're better party games.

I wouldn't call the Wii stupid. I think it's more along the gimmicky line. I don't think third party developers have really learned to take advantage of the Wii-mote.

Games aren't about graphics, they're about quality.

Anyway, did you make your judgement based on Wii Sports? Do you honestly believe that every single Wii game is just like Wii Sports? They do have "realistic" sports games on the Wii (Tiger Woods Golf, Madden, MLB: The Bigs, and I think they're developing FIFA) along with plenty of other games. Play Red Steel or the Godfather. Don't say the Wii is crap because you only played Wii Sports. It's a tech demo, for heaven's sake.

Go play games like Final Fantasy IV and VI, Castlevania I and II, Super Mario Bros 3, and A Link to the Past.....bad graphics, awesome games.

Well, basically, the controls are more interactive and more easy to use. Thus, it is easier for younger kids and older kids enjoy the Wii, more than the average hard core gamer is. And there are more games than just Wii sports. Their is Legend of Zelda, Medal of Honor, Red Steel and More.

You're just talking about one game -- Wii Sports. There are tons of games for the system. The game Wii Sports was made pretty much just to demonstrate the capabilities of the motion sensor controller -- the childish graphics were on purpose.

There are other games that have more 'adult' themes and many games released on other consoles are released on the Wii as well.

I think its kind of silly to judge the entire system because of the one game that came with it...

the cool thing is the interaction with the controller and the fact that is a really fun party machine wher everyone can get involved. You are right, the graphics are nothing to write home about, That really was not thier intention to compete in that area when they built the wii anyway.

It's just you...

"Link - If you don't care about graphics. why don't you go out and buy pong" - That makes absoluetly no sense. Pong's gameplay is in no way even related to legend of Zelda. Just because pong has crappy grapics doesn't mean it's a good game. Who dropped you on your head?

I have not played it, and I agree, it doesn't seem all that interesting to me either. If I want to move, I'll go play the sport...video games are when I want to play the sport and be lazy at the same time! At least kids are getting some kind of exercise while they are playing video games all day, all summer.

It's depending on what games your playing. If you play Zelda, Twilight Princess, on the Wii, you will enjoy the console more. :)

If its only graphics your interested rather than fun, why not simply buy a painting to look at.
