Jack K. didnt spend much time in jail. Did he get off so lightly because he is a medical doctor. Or could this be used as an argument for a future case that might involve someone(not a doctor) who goes around assisting people who want to die?

I don't think that its a crime to get assisted suicide (if ur dying slowly or so old and can't care for yourself)... I think i would wanna die in those conditions. I don't think he should have ever gone to jail. Why should suicide be illegal. Would you have preferred that the same person kill other people. Let them kill themselves if they want to. Yes as a friend or family that would be terrible but thats what they want...

I thought he served 10 years. That's a long time. Whether "long enough" is another question, but 10 years behind bars is a long time.

His sentence would have no relevance on any future cases against anyone else. Nor would his standing as a doctor.

Guess I don't see what you're asking.
