It had a tail, it seemed to be shooting UP and not down, very brilliant. Lasted about 2 seconds. Small pieces seemed to be falling off. At the end of the run, it broke off into 5 or 6 big pieces. It was the most amazing thing i'd ever seen in the night sky. I live in michigan, and saw this thing in the western sky.

It could only have been a large meteor breaking up in the earth's atmosphere, I once witnessed one and is a spectacular show.
