Factor:

(6x + 2)(x + 2)

Set it equal to 0:

0 = (6x + 2)(x + 2)

Either 6x + 2 = 0 or x + 2 = 0. Solve for both:

x = -1/3 or -2

6x^2+14x+4=0
=>6x^2+12x+2x+4=0
=>6x(x+2)+2(x+2)= 0 =>(x+2)(6x+2)=0
Therefore,either x+2=0 or 6x+2=0
if x+2=0,then x= -2
If 6x+2=0.then 6x= -2 ,or x=-2/6= -1/3
Therefore x= -2 or -1/3

First take out the highest common factor, in this case, 2.

2(3x^2 + 7x +2) = 0

Then find out what combinations of 3 and 2 will add up to 7 by mulitplying their factors.

2(3x + 1)(x + 2)
1x
6x

So the problem all factored out equals

2(3x + 1)(x + 2) = 0

Then solve for x.

3x + 1 = 0 x +2 = 0
3x = -1 x = -2
x = -1/3

So the solutions are -1/3 and -2.

x = (-14 +/- sqrt(14^2 - 4 * 6 * 4)) / (2 * 6)

x = (-14 +/- sqrt(196 - 96)) / 12

x = (-14 +/- sqrt(100)) / 12

x = (-14 +/- 10) / 12

x = -24/12 or -4/12

x = -2 or -1/3

I assume you mean: 6x² + 14x + 4 = 0
factorise,
3x.......+1............+2
2x.......+4............+12
_________________
6x²......+4............+14x

(3x + 1)(2x + 4) = 0
3x + 1 = 0..............2x + 4 = 0
x = -1/3...................x = -4/2 = -2
