I'm 13 and a C cup. My mom says it's very important for me to wear bras with full coverage and much support. She says this is even more important at my age, because I'm still growing up, though I hope my breasts won't develop any more. So she decided to make me wear bras like that, with 4 hooks in the back, thick tissue, and one of them is exactly the bra at at http://www.anita.com/de/en/0,1,104,1478,39236__products-detail.htm All my bras are like that, no other type is allowed. I think she goes a bit overboard, but her Dr told her she's right and those bras are good for me. I don't enjoy them, but I promised her I won't fight and will obey and she's a great mom, so I'm stuck. Gotta wear them. Mom says they aren't granny bras at all, just bras for who needs support, like me, no matter your age.

How can I get used to those bras? It'll be my first summer wearing them.,

WOW, they are HUGE bras!!!

Okay - for starters. Breasts don't need bras in order to be healthy or supported. Your breasts are full of ligaments that hold them up. In fact, wearing bras takes the pressure off these ligaments and can make them weaker - so bras may in fact make your breasts MORE likely to sag as you get older!

Secondly - as a C cup you don't need that much support. If you had DDs or something then yeah a bra would make things easier, but a C can support itself quite well.

My mother always made me wear sensible bras when I was your age too. I think it's more a mum's concern about her little girl not getting into skimpy, provocative underwear too soon. As you get older she'll probably back off, and if you go shopping on your own you can always pick up some cuter bras for yourself. I imagine those big cotton things are quite difficult to wear with vest tops.

I feel for you hon....I was the same size when I was your age. My mom picked out the same kind for me also...I wore them and eventually I pursuaded her to let me pick out bras more age appropriate for teens. Support IS important unless you want those suckers hanging down to your knees when you're older but I agree with you on the "granny bra" thing. I can't tell you how to get used to them except to just wear them.
There are cuter bras out there in your size with support and a bit less bulky....Hanes and Fruit of the Loom are two of them. They are underwire for support but the straps are thinner. Wear the ones your mom picked out for now..... if you wear a lot of tank tops and such, your mom might realize that a bra with a narrower strap might be nicer looking and not show as much with your summer tops.

Many of us never get used to them. They are uncomfortable.

Making sure they fit right and taking the tags off help. Also, under wires, push up bras, and lacy bras are the most uncomfortable. Sport bras are comfy, but give little support.

If you find a style that fits well and is most comfortable, keep the box/tag, to help you find more of them later. Get your favourites in many colours. Beige, white and black go well under most clothing.

Unless you are willing to hand wash and hang your bras all the time (which is best), the washing machine will stretch them out of shape fairly quickly. Throw them out! I kept some for about 10 years, because they were comfy, but they did nothing for support. After a proper fitting, I found out that my band size should be smaller, to keep it from riding up my back.

If you are C-cup or bigger, you do need wider straps. Even in bathing suits (and they will make you appear slimmer). Halter style swimsuits (tie behind the neck), can give you head, neck and back pain, from having the weight of your chest hanging around your neck.

C-cup is average size for women, so get to sales fast, they are the first to go! (Same for anything in Medium size, or size 8 shoes, they are both average for women).

Welcome to womanhood! lol!

It is possible to get cute bras that are full support, Im a D and all my bras are cute... But if your mom wants you to where them then where them.... if its a comfort issue you should try sleeping in them, you will get really used to them then...

Oh you poor thing...that thing looks more like a straitjacket than a bra! Just wear it, that's the only way you'll get used to it.
Good luck.

Well....that's sad! Completely and utterly pathetic! Talk to your mom and say you'll compromise with her. You'll get a nice strong sopportive bra but you wanna pick out one that's also a lil cute! And if that doesnt work go buy one yourself and hide it from her.

The only way I got used to them was to wear them.

I was big at your age too and hated it.

Had a reduction over a year ago and love every minute of it.
