Lazy as in very capable of working but won't work because they are LAZY. Lazy as in having a numerous amount of kids just so that they don't have to work.

Nothing wrong with giving to those who are mentally-delayed or on disability. But why should my hard-earned tax dollars go to people THAT JUST DON'T WANT TO WORK????

When these type of questions are posed on Y!A libs are quick to jump and say that people with these type of views are selfish and uncaring, blah, blah blah.

But I don't see the problem with HAVING a problem with those who are just plain lazy.

It doesn't matter whether they're lazy or not - it's not their money and it's not the government's money to take from you.

It's your money. Redistribution is wrong and against the principles on which this country was founded, regardless of whether there is moral character in the recipients (despite the fact that they're willing to take the money).

I don't. I think the welfare system is in need of serious reform. It should be a hand up not a hand out with limited time to draw benefits. I also think Corporate Welfare needs to undero some serious reform also, as that costs the taxpayers more money than the social welfare prorams for individuals

OK, I am a dem, but not die-hard liberal and I hate that we are willing to give funds to those that are too lazy to work. However, I do feel that many people are in need and I also feel that if we budgeted, say, $5 billion each year to public aid people in the U.S., it would be much better than the trillions that the Republicans spent on a war not worth fighting.

I thought all of my money was going to fund the defense department and the drug companies.

Very little of your tax dollar percentage wise goes to welfare.

There are always going to be people who take advantage.
But believe me they are not living any kind of life style you would want to live. So hold your head up and be happy that you have the where with all to support yourself.

Probably as much of your tax dollar goes to fund healthcare for Walmart employees and keep people in prison for crimes
like being addicted to drugs. Thats the conservatives doing
that one.

So why do conservatives want to give my hard earned tax dollars to Walmart so that their executives and shareholders can make fortunes? Why do conservatives want to make career criminals out of some guy who has a drug problem?
Any idea how much it cost to house a prisioner in California.

Lazy people?

You mean like President Bush who spent 42% of his time before the sep 11 attacks, ON VACATION.

You mean like "James Braddock", who worked loading docks with a broken hand during the depression and finally had to ask for assistance to feed his children. Then went on to become heavyweight champ and paid all that money back.

Other than anecdotal evidence, which is very different from real evidence, do you have anything to support your contention, as it seems to be, that most public assistance goes to people who don't really need it, but just want it?

I can answer that for you. No, you don't, because there is no such evidence, as it isn't true. Yes, unfortunately, there are those who get funds who don't really deserve them, who can be contributing to society. But these people are the minority of those who get assistance. This is a fact that has been shown time and time again. Is it fair or moral to deny help to those who need it based on the actions of those who don't?

I don't think you are selfish and uncaring, just ill-informed. The welfare reform passed in the 90's put a time limit on welfare benefits and made it so that mothers who receive must actively seek work...it has resulted in significantly reducing the number of people receiving welfare....give me a thumbs down, but it will not make it any less true

Well, to get disability one must have worked and paid taxes for 10 years ! So a disable person who has done that is simply getting his money back !

And believe it or not it is very hard to get money from GOV. for help, be assure none of your taxes are going to waste in that Dept. But the war in Iraq and Afghanistan is wiping out your tax money before even you pay it !

I agree i just hate paying people to do nothing productive with thier life, they are just hurting themselves. Democrats/socialists just want thier votes, so they try to appeal to them. They should use that money and go to college instead of buying booze and cigarettes.

I am wounded by this so I cant goto work any more, so maybe you need to rethink the way you think about your hard earned street money earned from walking.
