Not only possible but vital to our survival. Metaphysics without physics is a dead issue. Physics without corroborative and logical reasoning is haphazard and dangerous. Some people are so heavenly minded they're no earthly good. It is not wisdom if it has no effect, and not love thereof if it is not moved by the world and its needs.

Let's just take Immanuel Kant as an example. The guy died when he was like 34. He sat up in a mansion all day writing philosophy. He never had any money or a wife, and there is no evidence that he even had any affairs. Worldy effectiveness is overrated. Blind action is where the money is at, because the economy is stimulated by demand, and people mostly buy things because of this blind impulse.

Think of it this way.
Science, was once a branch of philosphy, logic, is currently a branch of philosophy. We use these two tools to formulate all decisions of worldly effectiveness.
Philosophy in and of itself will not be the answer to your question, but it is the path that leads to the proper answer, without it, we would all still be living in caves.

Of course. Philosophy broadens your horizons, which in turn makes you more worldly effective.
