ok let me add more. I would like lower rent but still live in an area that I will not get shot in. LOL I have pets so I am thinking that I will have to rent a house.

Go with the southside or westside.
Southside, Mandarin, Arlington-----
1. BAD traffic
2. great neighborhoods
3. great people
Westside------
1. some parts are good
2. some parts are the secondary ghetto
3. some good houses
4. traffic is not bad

The Houses in Springfield (which is close to downtown) are being fixed up and you can get them for cheap. I have friends who live around there and love it. There are also a lot of different condos being built all around town. I live in Riverside, its not a bad area, and there are a lot of houses going up for rent all around.
Never been to Pittsburgh, so I can't tell you how much we are alike or unalike for there.

Another person leaving our "great" city lol I'm sure rent is going to be exspensive compared to Pittsburgh considering how cheap it is to live here.

jacksonville has lots of weird gated communities and stuff like that if thats what you mean by nice. i like it beachside - fernandina is very nice.
