There are two ways. As you have not written which operating system you are having. Start your computer by pressing on button and start pressing del key, you will get into BIOS from here you can set the password. Another way is if you are using Windows XP than you become Administrator & set your password.

If you haven't already done so, set yourself up as Administrator (password protected) and create limited accounts for the kids. The you can do as MM says and tweak the Content options in Internet Options. Only you as Administrator can make these changes, they can't as limited account users.
Good Luck. You might need to bear in mind, though, that if they're savvy enough they can probably go around to a mate's and do it there, if that concerns you.

Personally my friend, I would buy ready-made programme for the computer one such example being a programme called net Nanny. You can buy it from such places as Nova Tech or PC World or many other such places around the country, maybe even Dixons stock it!
Until then I would sit with them on watch what they're up to. But if you can't, or won't, or they won't let you (whose boss?) Just watch what happens with them ask them where they want to go on the net, and use the history button.
Also if you using Windows XP, give them a sign in name each and make sure they do not have administrator rights.

The only way to ensure that those type of sites are not viewed is to, create a user account which is restricted according to your requirements. And ensuring that the full access administrative account password is not disclosed. If that is any help......

If you go to the control panel, and then choose internet options, and then the content tab, there is a place there to enable what content can be view and also a place for putting in your password. Good luck and it is a great idea.

i don't think a password alone can do it, unless you want them no access to the computer at all.
you will need something like software sentinel. you can probably download a decent one for free.

you need to set up an account for your children in windows control panel.
then set up the main one for yourself with administrators right and your own password.
easy enough when you get started.
