They all see it as a political platform for the 2008 election, so they don't want to initiate reforms before then.
This is yet another sad example of how politicians are willing to sacrifice the nation in order to get elected.

i'm no longer hostile to wellbeing care reform. the present device, it truly is about ninety 5% administered through the authorities), is definitely damaged. The question few are asking is, if a wellbeing care device rife with authorities intervention, licensing, and regulation is broken, why would all and sundry imagine that extra authorities will be a answer? Einstein suggested, "insanity is doing an same element many times and prepared for various consequences." possibly what human beings must be asking is why did not we've this issue one hundred years in the past? might want to or not it is that till now the authorities were given in contact that loose marketplace competition kept the universal extreme and the fee low? the 2d element to take under consideration is in basic terms economic. Any time the fee of a sturdy or provider is socialized the universal decreases and the price will improve. it is a traditionally provable truth. Who will pay for socialized wellbeing care? For reference cloth, study some Mary Ruwart, Ludwig von Mises, Murray Rothbard, Frederick Bastiat, or others who coach Austrian economic concept.

No one with any degree of compassion is against health care reform. The problem is how it is to be accomplished.
Are you willing to pay 2, 4, 10 or more times what you do now in Medicare taxes? That's the Democrats' plan.
The Republicans want to help private business to accomplish it, but how? Since 98% of all businesses in America are defined as small businesses (less than 500 employees), how many of them would go under if required to provide medical insurance to each full-time employee? As it is, most small businesses want their unskilled or semi-skilled workers to be part-time.
I don't know how to solve it, but one part of the solution is tort reform. My mother once overheard a conversation between acquaintences where one commented to the other that he had to find another way of suing some company for damages because one of his settlements was due to expire, and it would leave him with not enough income. A huge part of the enormous expense for medical is malpractice insurance and legal costs.
As a people, we wouldn't be so quick to make someone a multimillionaire when they had an accident, if we really understood the full ramifications of that kind of choice. We all pay...a lot.

Socialized heath care has been a disaster in Europe and Canada. Even our system of health care is being burdened by uninsured people using emergency rooms as doctor's offices. The time has come for controls. If people can afford to get health insurance they are penalized for those that live off society. The free ride must stop. Since politicians do not care about the people they do nothing.

i think the problem is a lot of powerful lobbyists for medical pros, lawyers, insurance companies, and others combined with honest left vs. right concepts of how the sytem should work keep health care reform in a state of permanent limbo. i mean, everybody knows it has the be dealt with but the devil is truely in the details which nobody can agree on and so it just sits there. let's see how this thing in mass. plays out and maybe that will get things rolling...maybe.
i feel there are only two issues in american politics; 1. is health care reform, and the other isnt, (haha). nah, the other is meaningful campaign finance reform.
BUT health care reform for a thousand reasons which cross every economic and social boundry should be everyones central issue....regardless of political party.

first off how would you reform the health care system? i would like to know how congress could reform the system when in reality they have created most of the problems we now face. to truly reform the system the regulations that have be put on the health care system needs to be repealed. a vast majority of high health costs are attributed to the restrictions, regulations, and paperwork need by the health care system. if most of these things were repealed then the cost of the care would have to come down. you asked why someone doesn't step forward well why would anyone want to change something that they helped create. health care is like gun control in this country every dolt in washington wants to have their name somewhere on some regulation that shows their constituents that they are doing something about the problem but in essence they just want to get re-elected. total reform has to start at the source which is washington d.c.

Yes there should be Healthcare reform. The government needs to get out of it. They caused all these problems I don't think it is a good idea to go to them to solve them.

Simply put, although most lawmakers agree that SOMETHING needs to be done to reform health care, exactly how to approach this is complex. It seems nearly impossible to get the majority to agree on a bipartisan plan. Consequently, it stays in limbo.
