Many people on here keep saying that money for Iraq is separate buit that is not true. It has to come from somewhere. New money wasn't simply created for Iraq. That money was taken from something that we needed.
When baby boomers are scraping up trying to live through their retirement I hope they understand what they did to the government to get there? Wake up!

The elephant is the symbol of the Republican Party, the elephant never forgets, and neither do Republicans. They are still bitter over Franklin Roosevelt and the New Deal. They still think that if 1890 style dog eat dog capitalism had been allowed to continue unabated, the Great Depression would have cured itself, and so they have always wanted to destroy everything FDR and the New Deal and the Democrats built. They still even want to destroy Social Security and Medicare. They want to sell off all public assets built by FDR, except for the TVA because that provides cheap electricity to the South and they don't want the South to have to confront the same "market forces" they set loose against the rest of the country. Its just spite. They seriously think the government should only do two things--lock people up in (privately run) prisons and start wars. Even public education should be eliminated.

The money for SSI has never been there. It has always been placed in general funds. This is not a new problem you are just new to it. The discussions of what to do with SS raged in the seventies and was nicknamed the third rail (as in the electrified rail in the subways.) any Republican that brought it up as needing fixed was crucified. The Democrats have blocked legislation to deal with this for thirty years and you think you can blame it on Republicans. Just saying things does not make it true no matter what they teach you in school these days, you must have facts and history to corroborate what you say or you simply look like a fool.

Yeah, why spend money freeing people, fighting islamo-fascism, and creating the first ever Arab democracy when we could use to provide poor people with an incentive not to work or we could create a miserable government run health care system that would be almost as good as our public schools.
