i keep trying to a few minutes and some catches or changes and the car starts. it is then fine all day and starts up first time all day. could it be the starter if it works all day and just not in the morning or could it be the battery. i plan to have the battery tested.

i had this happen in my cutlass. turned out to be a factory sucurity system fault. these systems disable the starter and fuel pump when they are activated. an ignition switch problem can sometimes cause this to occur.

First thing is to get the battery checked. You may have a shorted cell and are not getting the full voltage. If the battery is good then it is time to check the starter, could be worn brushes or another problem with it. good luck
