Ear infections are horrible. I had so many as a child and as an adult.

How many have you had? Have you ever had tubes? If you get them a lot you want to find a good Ear Nose and Throat specialist. Please, Please, Please take my advice. I suffer from ear aches alll the time.

Heat helps, Alieve, I know for me when I am laying down it hurts worse when I lay on the ear that hurts I guess because it causes pressure. Def. don't get any water in it. But, you probably already know that. It stinks but antibiotics and letting it pass are really all you can do. If you keep getting them you need to stay on top of it because that indicates a more serious problem that needs immediate attention.

I myself have had so many sets of tubes and both ear drums re-built out of cartilage, getting ready to have a tube put back in the left because it is getting that bad again. I know how bad they hurt.

I hope you feel better real soon!! Take Care!

Do you have an ear infection or earache? I use to get earache all the time when I was a child. The doctor would give eardrops and it never helped. The pain was terrible and as I was crying in pain my great grandfather said he would fix it. He smoked a pipe and blew smoke in my ear and put a wad of cotton in the ear to keep the smoke in. It cured it and whenever I got an earache after that he did the same thing and it was gone! I have read an article that a hair dryer does the same thing, NOT. Also years later as an adult I worked with a girl that was in tears because she had such bad earache. One of the other ladies working there was a smoker and I talked her into blowing her cigarette smoke into the other ladies ear. Although very reluctant on both their parts they did it and the next day the lady with the earache was estatic because she did not have any more ache. Daddy always thought it was something in the pipe tobacco but apparently if is from the tobacco itself in any form of smoke.

parents may have pressed a warm water bottle or warm bag of salt against the ear. Such old-fashioned remedies may still help to ease ear pain. Drops of tea tree oil may be beneficial. This herbal treatment has mild anti-bacterial properties, but it may irritate the skin.
Studies have reported that Otikon, an extract made of various plants, including garlic and St. John's wort, is an effective anesthetic in treating the pain associated with ear infections. Plants contained in Otikon may have side effects.

What works for me is to use hydrogen peroxide, I pour a small amount about a half a cap into the ear. The head is tilted to the opposed side. This will sting and bubble, after I will use alcohol to removed the water in the peroxide. I have not seen a doctor for ear infection for years. Mine have been to the point of bleeding.

hmmm..I know the breast milk thing works...but not something you can pick up in the corner store! :o)

Try making your own garlic oil...(it can work great) - take one clove of garlic, peel it and cut in half. Take some vegetable or olive oil and put in small glass jar with lid - put pieces of garlic in oil and put on lid. Let sit a bit (doesn't take long for the garlic to infuse oil) and take a couple drops and put in ear and can put cotton ball in so it doesn't leak out. After a few hours can take garlic out of jar and toss and save oil. Keeps for a few weeks in kitchen cupboard...just don't want to use 'cold' oil in ear as it would be uncomfortable...room temp is fine.

Use this at least 3 times per day.

If you can take some liquid Echinacea or Cat's Claw tincture (20 drops 4 times per day) by mouth, in an ounce of juice...that will speed the process.
