What cars were all the rage back in the mid 40s? Which models were all the teenagers going after? I need these for reference in a screenplay. Thank you!

Well whatever cars were hot in the 1930's were hot in the 40's. See there was a war on and car production was suspended so that aircraft and tanks and weapons could be produced to meet the threat. I think the last new model year in the states was 1941. Europe had been at war much longer so they may have only 1930's model years.
With gasoline and even tire rationing there wasn't a lot of driving around joyriding being done by teenagers. so you might need to tweak your screenplay to 1940 or '41 at the latest.
