The Beatles. You can't argue with history. Not that I like the beatles, but you gotta admit the MASSIVE impact they had on the music world. Who knows what modern music would have been like without them? Would metallica even exist? Besides, the beatles are so much more identifiable and unique than metallica.

Sure the Beatles were one of the first big bands in rock, but Metallica was so much better. Metallica takes the cake for technicality, the Beatles stuff is not technical at all and Metallica has some crazy riffs. Sure the Beatles had a big fanbase in the 60's but they died down in the 70's. The fanbase was mostly screaming girls, and by the 80's no one really cared for them. Metallica has always had a cult following, the Beatles dont have a cult. Metallica had three of the best albums made EVER. The Beatles have nothing on the Metallica of the 80's.
