Fertile eggs will start off nearly clear and become amber colored within the first 10-14 hours or so. If any eggs at any time become white they are infertile.

Females are bloated looking when filled with eggs. If you view her from the front (so you are looking her in the face basically) she will bulge from both sides. Imagine a straw passing a watermelon or a pancake with an egg embedded inside it.

At first they are clear to a milky color. As the eggs develop they will begin to darken. At some point you will begin to see there eyes. After that they will begin to hatch.

My experience with angel fish they always laid them on the filter tube and they will stay right where their eggs are to protect them.
