um... duh! did you see her. You see.... the people with the money in this world can relate to her. She comes from a white, professional family. So, those money makers.... they have the ability to spread the word much faster... and get more attention.

I think it's absolutely disgusting that they left their children asleep in a motel in a foreign country while they ate out. They should be prosecuted.

when you think of the number of missing and exploited children.... it's a shame they all don't have the kind of coverage this little girl has.

It's sad to say that the real reason that it is always on the news is because it makes profit. In other words, television stations know that people will tune in to the news if they claim there is a 'breakthrough'. This is the same for the printed press - put simply, it sells more papers.

I do, of course, feel sympathy for the McCann family, but I am shocked by how much attention this story has received.

Hundreds of children in Africa die daily, from things such as diahorria...things that could be prevented by cheap medicine, yet at the same time, the findmadeline.com fund is £721,000, with multi-million pound rewards to those who ensure her safe return.

I appreciate the McCann's hardship, and I wish them the best of luck in finding their daughter, but there really should be a little perspective here....

It's a big deal because the more people who know about it, the more chance there is of the child being found and also, it will make other holidaymakers keep a closer eye on their kids.

Don't be so heartless, this is a 4 year old innocent little girl who has been missing for over a month

Because she is a British Subject,It affects all parents taking their children abroad on holiday, its a disastrous explosive situation, for everyone.Parents now fear going abroad and it will affect holiday sales to those areas and possibly others. What is worse, if it is the work of Child Traffickers, it means that no child is safe abroad. This situation must be tackled and sorted out, crimes such as these are on the rise. A British Child to them is a valuable commodity. Children from their own country are taken as well and it is almost accepted by the Media as part and parcel of that country. But the truth is the world child services are fighting this evil trade .It has to be stopped / Madeleine sadly may have become a statistic of this situation, she is innocently being headed as important in the world campaign.

this is a world where people get away with anything and the headlines is of someone stealing the George bushes watch.there are far more serious crimes out there and unless it is kept in the papers and news and people are kept aware of the sort of news that will help and protect people then it makes everyone aware that we(the real people) are getting tired and will not put up with the brutality and ugliness in this world. people like you should just keep on the cartoon channels.. wake up fool

I agree with you. Don't get me wrong. I think that what happened to JonBenet Ramsey, Natalie Holloway, and Madeline McCann is tragic, but like you pointed out, people disappear and are murdered every day. Are missing and murdered girls important only if they are rich, pretty, and blonde?

its bcause she was left alone with her two siblings while her professional parents (both drs) went out to dine with their friends, would the media be so supportive of working class parents if they did the same? i think not.

I think it really started because of the chain of events leading up to her disappearence and the chain of events that have occured since then.
