I have downloaded Adobe Flash player about 3 times now, and I'm still told on certain website that I need a flash player to access the site. Can anybody tell me why this is happening?

Safe Fam!

Might be a corrupted installation.

Assuming you are in the administrator account, first check Add/Remove Programs to see if you have Adobe or Macromedia Flash installed. If yes uninstall them using the new Uninstaller provided by Adobe and reboot (some computers require a reboot to completely uninstall programs)

Then try to download the Flash player again from the following site:

However, it has been reported that some people are having issues downloading the full version directly from Adobe. If that is the case, you may want to try to download it as a standalone.

You may have to lower your firewall temporarily for the download to come uncorrupted.

Note: Flash Player is not a program per se. It is a plug-in to your web browser to allow flash content to be displayed and is required for many gaming sites.

When you design a flash application to be embedded in a website, there is an option to force the player to check the VERSION installed on your machine.
If this flag is set and your version is NOT the same as required by the site designer, it will report that you need a (newer) version.
The current stable version is 8.
Version 4 was much better (with less cross-domain constraints), but less secure.
Versions 7 and 8 are not very compatible: some functions are doing the contrary to each other! (What is white in one is black in the other).

Guess we'll have to keep downloading...
