I am kind of unfamiliar with computers, but am in the market for a laptop. But really all I wanted to know was if 1 GB RAM and a 160 GB hard drive was decent or not. If you could put into perspective how much that holds/allows to happen that would be great.
-Also, I'm looking at the new macbook..If you own one, feel free to leave any comments, pros/cons.

Depends on what you want to use it for. If you're not a hard-core geek it would probably be plenty.

1GB RAM isn't bad but depending on your desired operating system, security products and other resource intensive software it might be a bit light. You should look at opting for 2GB RAM, especially if you are going with Vista. Remember that everything takes RAM. Not only security products but your operating system, active browser windows, running applications (such as Word, Gaming, Messenger etc) all require system resources.

With regards to 160GB Hard drive, it might be suffuicient. Depends what you want to keep stored on your computer. Many places now offer upgraded hard drive storage cheaply.

As for the Mac, I'll leave that question for someone who uses those products.

Thats much better than average. Most laptops come with only circa 260 MB of RAM and 90 gigs in the hard drive. Unless it cost 10,000 dollars I'd say that's a good deal.

I am not really sure what u want to use the computer for but i'll say although its not the BEST laptop in the market but its a little bit of of top-notch.

U can load the new OS (vista) on it and download a lot of programmes and stuff u want. It all depends on what u use yor computer for.

Generally more is better, without specifics.

Go to an Apple Store and test drive one, and ask a lot of questions, before you decide.

If I didn't make my living fixing Windows boxes, I'd only use Mac or Linux. Windows is a money machine!

In the current configurations, those are considered small. Most have 4GB and a 500GB HDD. Check on laptops through Pricewatch.com, and see what they usually have installed.

that about right. 160GB hard drive is going to give you lots of memory. It depends on what your using it for.If you want music, about 900-1000songs can fit onto a 4GB hard drive.you'll be able to save thousands of documents and pictures on your laptop.
