I water my lawn when its convenient for me, period!! That would usually be in the morning.
I used to be in turf maintenance and set most of my sprinkling systems up to run between 3:00am -7:30am.

The early morning around 4-6am or so is about the best. If you can't water early morning it is normally recommended to water in the evening.

Here are the reasons why:

Morning and evening are better than during the middle of the day because it is cooler and the water won't get evaporated off. Also, during the middle of the day the water can act like a magnifying glass and actually cause the grass to get burnt.

Morning is better than evening because watering in evening is more prone to mold and mildew problems. It also makes you more prone to stuff like slugs I think. So basically you have a less chance of having disease problems with your lawn if you water in the morning than in the evening.

For morning, from what I've read it is best to not water after about 10am. For evening, I'd wait till about 6pm or thereafter so the suns intensity has gone down. From about 10am to about 3-4pm is the hot portion of the day.

If the backyard is already universal, you're watering it way TOO in many situations, and your grass probable isn't getting almost adequate water. you may desire to water deeply, yet infrequently. The grass will certainly enable you comprehend while it desires greater water, in case you're observant, you would be conscious. Water each and every section for roughly an hour or so, per possibility even longer on the beginning up, to get those roots down deep interior the dirt. Then wait 4 days and do it back, then wait 5 till now the subsequent watering, etc. Your grass will have fun with it, and you will lose much less to evaporation. I choose irrigation, laying the hose in a close-by to allow the water to unfold alongside the floor and seep into the soil. in the adventure that your backyard is choppy, verify you lay the hose on the better spots and enable the water discover the low aspects. good success!

It can be done both early morning or evening...preferably in the early morning when the temperature is at its coolest. IF you water at night, the water will disease the grass from TOO MUCH moisture.
