Both from the psychological and legal standpoints. Are there books out there that deal with this? Other sites where there have been discussions of people falsely imprisoned and eventually released? Etc.

when i was 16 i got locked up for 10wk&2days.The whole thing was traumatic and very very lonely because i was telling the truth! ...but as each day went by it just toughly settled that i was still me and ...well tough! what could i do? ...i guess maybe i could have gone berzerk but just who was that gonna have any real effect on ME! after this "smack" in the self my life has gone on and even now it is my 'very own' life with or without me winning the grace of whats right. I lost this 2&1/2 months ...kinda like i was a cucumber then i was put in vinegar for 10 wks. then taken out again. Now there is no way anyone or anythings gonna turn me > a pickle < back into that cucumber. Acceptance is my only sure reparation. nothing happens in GOD S world by mistake

A guard cannot arrest someone merely on the suspicion that person is going to commit a theft. In most jurisdictions, there must be some proof that a criminal act has actually been committed.
Bounty hunters have been subject to suits for false arrest when they attempt to execute a bench warrant outside of the United States.
There have been some cases where police officers or bounty hunters have executed valid arrest warrants against the wrong person. Although many false arrest suits result in only nominal damages, such mistakes usually result in large awards against the arresting officers.
