Just go to your doctors and explain this, there are contraceptive pills/injections that stop periods and once you stop them after a time your body will return to normal and enable you to try for a baby.

To specifically answer your question, YES, you can stop and start your period with the help of several different hormonal options now available through your doctor. There are specific birth control pills on the market specifically marketed toward having a period either 4 times a year or not having it at all. Progesterone-based birth control pills and the shot (depo provera) can also, over time (i.e. usually after a year) stop your period all together. Your best bet is to talk to your doctor about what your major complaints are, and to go from there to see what your best option might be.

People have different opinions when it comes to introducing synthetic hormones into your body to regulate your cycle. It's up to you to decide how you feel about it. Personally, I've been on the shot for almost three years and I like it. The first year was a hassle, and to be honest, I wouldn't recommend the shot for everyone.

My OH has a IUD fitted that is impregnated with the hormones found in the pill. She has had it for 5 years and only had two periods in that time (this is normal).

I understand that it is safer than the pill and of course you do not have to remember to take it every day.

See Quote from listed url...

"There are two types of IUDs available: ParaGard and Mirena. The ParaGard The Mirena releases small amounts of a synthetic progesterone hormone. The hormone was added to attempt to decrease the bleeding and cramping that some women have with the IUD."

"Is Mirena safe and effective?
Over the past 14 years, Mirena has been used successfully by more than 7 million women worldwide. It is 99.9% effective and has been approved by the FDA for use in the US since 2001. By 1 year of use, there is a 90% reduction in menstrual bleeding and about 20% of users have no bleeding or spotting at all."

And of course you can talk to your GP.

I recently started on the every day pill, after being on a 21 day pill, when I changed I immediately stopped having periods, I think it was called Cerrazette, or something similar, I wasnt keen on the fact that I never got a period as I panick even when not necessary! But other types of everyday will either stop or drastically reduce the length of your period and also the intensity of them.
It does depend on how long you want to not have them, it may affect you later on and may find it quite hard and rather long for your system to return to normal especially if you decide on one that stops them altogether. Your doctor would be the best person to see and they can give you trials of different types, but again changing alot may also mess you up.
Hope you find what your looking for.

Periods are horrible but its a must- its part of life. You cannot stop them- it would be dangerous. The only way you could eliminate them would be to have a hysterectomy- removal of womb and ovaries- but no-one would do this for you because you are too young. You can only make life easier for yourself by making yourself comfortable when you are having a period- pain killers etc. You could also look at a buying a mooncup- www.mooncup.co.uk- the new way to deal with periods so you don't have to worry about pads and tampons. You will have to what millions of other girls on this planet do honey- get used to it!

Having periods is nature and its best not to mess around or later on in life it could affect you having children. Perhaps try the pill for a while and see what happens, it may stop your periods or make them more regular and at least you will be protected from pregnancy until you are ready

You can only do this by pumping your body full of artificial hormones. This is not safe. These hormones carry the risk of serious problems. Look at the link between HRT and cancer for goodness sake.
Almost all women just get on with it. We have no choice. And most of us do not winge about it all the time, either.

Periods are NOT a fact of life women!

Please let's drag ourselves into the 21st century!

Contraceptive implants and injections are 100% safe and the most effective method of contraception, and in most cases stop periods.

If your periods are horrible, get on the birth control pill (NOT the shot! Do NOT get the shot!!!!!!!!). It will help lighten the PMS symptoms and all the "goodies" that come with a period.

You could try Seasonale. Four periods a year and I've heard good things about it.
