okay.. first of all.. i think i should correct what u think...

do u know.. In history of almost all countries.. (only countries with a very long history)...all men wear skirts!!?
(i think it would be better for u to read the history of different countries by yourself so that u can learn more from it)

infects..skirts come first then we got trousers.. although i not sure from when then we finally got trousers.. i think maybe because men are stronger than women... so they are required to do all the rough work.. like planting fruits and vegetable in the field..therefore trousers are invented and men change to trousers for convenient purpose..
therefore it is not the true cultures for men to wear trousers..

and till now men do wear skirts.. in some countries where they still keep their real cultures..

it is true that man wear skirts in history.. please go to this web site for more information on history for trousers..

here some picture of tunic where the rome and greek wear..long ago..
http://www.merchantadventurers.com/admed.htm

so i don't see anything wrong for men to wear skirts if they want to..(provided if they want to) guys don't like to be called sissy.. or girlish..that is why they themselves don't want to wear skirts..not they cannot...

now woman change.. because of convenient and fashion.. because girls want to look good and different .. all girls want to try something different to look pretty.

They do. As others have said, kilts are making a big show in fashion for men. There used to be only 2 companies in the US that made kilts, and recently there were 16. In fact they have become some companies uniform. They have chosen the Utili-Kilt. I myself have no problem wearing a kilt and I make my own. You would be surprised at how many women have complimented me on the fact that I will wear one. They think its great to have the door opened for them by a guy in a kilt. I also wear skirts as they fit the male body shape better then pants (not constricting things). I'm not talking mini's and such but longer ones, knee length or longer. In fact there is now a store or two in Denver that have now brought in a skirt specifically made for guys and it is being widely accepted and they are having trouble at time keeping them in stock. Guys I think just seem to feel that they lose some of thier masculinity buy wearing one. On the contrary. Those that do wear them are showing that they have no problems with thier masculinity. They are still who they are no matter what they are wearing.

I can't address the historical progress of other countries, but in terms of of the cultural shift in America, women used to be required to wear skirts/dresses until pants slowly became acceptable in the latter part of the 20th century. I can theorize a great deal as to why women were not allowed to wear pants 'back in the day' (theories mainly having to do with sexual accessibility and the domination by the male gender), but your question is why there has been no corresponding shift for men.

My own personal theory as to why skirts are not acceptable for men in America is because there is a history here of women being held in lower regard, and there has been a conscious or unconscious feeling in men (in general, though not all men) that to dress similarly to a woman is to 'lower oneself to a female level.' It's a reflection of the fact that men have enjoyed feeling superior for generations and naturally don't want to let that superior feeling go, and to make oneself feminine in any way is to feel one's masculinity is threatened. So men conspire with one another subtly to keep the status quo as best they can.

Think about it... why is one of the worst names you can call a guy a crude slang term for a female body part?

And God forbid anyone imagine a heterosexual guy might be effeminate in any way...

And why do so many men feel threatened by other men who are homosexual? You notice men rarely feel threatened by gay women.

Just my two cents... something to think about.

By the way, I'm not a feminist... I'm an equalist. :-)

Men wear them, they just don't have the balls to go out in them although I do as an older male...I get a TON of compliments on how sexy my legs look and a lot of couples have come up to me, even when I'm dating a woman, the come up to me or us and say "Damn, your legs are sexy !!!" -- which my dates find cute and it even boosts their confidence a bunch ! I also get the occasional couple that comes up to me and inevitably the female in that couple will say "Ok, now I'm convinced my hubby can wear a skirt in public !" and we end up going out on a double date together with all of us in skirts...

It's just a matter of how you present. If you try to blend in like I do and wear a decent skirt length like 2" above and below the knee, in solids or fine fabrics with hose and a polo shirt with decent wedges then you'll find yourself fitting in within a relatively short amount of time. After about 10 minutes of nervousness, you'll completely lose your fear of being in public, so my recommendation to crossdressers is just get out there in a denim skirt and enjoy your health and freedom ! :">

The world is changing...change with it or your children will be left behind...

I would say,,,it's due to the jobs that men (ordninarily) do. Think about it,,,How would you like to see a man in a skirt working construction?
It is not impossible to find american men wearing kilts from time to time. My sister had a Keltic wedding,,,and all the men were wearing Kilts.
Well,,happy wardrobe making to you!!

lol, i know it's a little odd to think about it ... but women only wear nice, fitted women's trousers, so it's sort of become a part of their closet ... plus, women have nice, clean, toned legs - truthfully, who wants to see a hairy guy flaunting his legs?? eww! call me sexist, but i hope things don't change!
