I am from Rhodes, i can advise you.
First you have to see the old town, the medieval.Rhodes is world heritage city of Unesco.
The aquarium, the italian buildings in the centre, and the traditional ancient city of Lindos.I advise you to go in the eraly morning to see Acropolis there, becasue it is so hot.
You can visit the mpount of Filerimos, with the medieval church of the knights, 7 pighes, a wonderful landscape with lakes and tunnels, profitis Ilias with the italian old buildings Elafos Elafina, and the ancient city of Kamiiros.
Dont forget also the archeologic museum in the old town where you ll see the Venus of Rhodes..
I suggest you not to eat in the old town it is expensive, and to prefere small tavernas in Zefiros area, *** the cypriot taverna nof Agrino.
For night life Faliraki is ideal, and the old town full of bars.
one last thing, the beach is always wonderful with 3 colours, try also Kallithea with the wonderfulmitalian constructions, Tsambika, Kiotari..
In case you need more information, you can ask me..
Greetings from Rhodes.

the old town is lovely, the beaches are good on the northwest side, and better on the east, but stay away from faliraki. unless you are age 19 and iq 19.
lindos is great too - go to the top. and the valley of butterflies.
best bits for me were the less touristy bits. if you can spend time in kalavarda or fanis you'll have a great time as there are hardly any tourists. go to the port and the castle at kamiros scala - serene!
oh and by the way, eat fish! red or grey mullet, swordfish, eel, prawns, squid. and drink retsina and metaxa.

If you can pop over to Crete, the Sumarian Gorge is a beautiful spot. the hike through it is a day's work, but way worth it. You could easily take a ferry from Rhodes- they leave ever few hours.

You should rent a car and drive around, I really liked the beaches in the south and the West coast with its small villages is spectacular! Lindos is very nice but also very crowded! Have a nice vacation!

Get on the Dodekanissos Express catamaran and go up to Lipsi island.
There you will see a real Greek island as it should be, with very little tourists, agriculture, siestas in the afternoon, goats on the hillside............
I'm going home next week !
