Sometimes I think the whole idea of political correctness is getting a bit out of control. Before I say anything else, I just want to clarify this: I am by no means racist, I am as vehemently opposed to racism as the next person. Saying this though, I think that people should have a sense of humour about the matter as well. Politicians are afraid to say anything which has anything to do with race, creed or colour. And why does is it almost acceptable to make jokes about some cultures, but not others? For example, I'm Irish and if somebody called me a potato-picking bog trotter, I would just laugh and I'm sure 90% of the Irish population would. However, if somebody said something similar to an African or Asian, there would be huge uproar. I am not talking about not standing up against racism, I am merely saying that perhaps people should have a sense of humour and not get offended at the slightest thing.
Maybe I am completely wrong, what do you guys think?
