earlier when there was not much user interface con was used to bring up the console.. or in other words, con stood for console.
there are other keywords that you cannot use. for example prn which stood for print

There are a few words you can't use because they are reserved for the OS. Try Aux.

Because its a reserved word, meant its use internally.
