I gage a great book as one that I would want to read over and over again. Jeffery Deaver, Dennis Lehane and Lee Child, in my opinion are the holy trinity of thriller writers! I am a avid reader in this genre and have read Coben, King, Koontz, F. Paul Wilson, and many others but none can touch the three I've listed! The Deaver book I'm reading now is The Sleeping Doll--a brand new release and is literally keeping me up at nights!! I'm quite sure you'll love his other thrillers as well, such as The Bone Collector, A Maiden's Grave, The Coffen Dancer, Praying For Rain, Cold Moon, The Twelveth Card, The Vanished Man, Devel's Tear drop et el. For Lehane, start with A Drink Before War (don't let the title fool you) then Darkness Take My Hand, Sacred, Gone, Baby Gone, Prayers For Rain, Shutter Island and Mystic River. For Lee Child, you can start with his first and move forward, but it's Ok if you don't. Some personal favs are: One Shot, Trip Wire, Hard Luck and Trouble--a new release, The Persuader-my personal fav, The Hard Way, but they are all page turners! Let me know what you think. Greg

I have read all of the books by my favourite authors, and thanks to our library system I can place a hold on new books before they arrive on the shelf. If I need something to read I head to the mystery section of the library. I read a lot of women authors because I find they do less swearing. Sometimes the cover picture will lead me to read the inside write up of the book. Sometimes it is the title. When I need something different I check out what the book clubs are reading.

It would depend on my state of mind. If it is for leisure and for pure entertainment and fairly mindless, it would be a book by Fern Michaels(Payback, Desperate Measures). She writes about strong women characters who seek out justice for one another.

Otherwise, I try to keep up with the Young Adult authors as I am a librarian. Carl Hiaasen is one of my favorites as well as Christopher Paul Curtis(Watsons Go to Birmingham-1963), Ann Brashares (Sisterhood of the traveling pants), Han Nolan (Born Blue). I think many of these books are as good as many of the books written for adults.

One of my favorite things to do is to browse the shelves at Barnes and Nobles!

It would have to be a Christopher Moore book; A Dirty Job, You Suck: A Love Story, The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove, etc. They aren't my typical kind of read. However, once I read A Dirty Job, I was hooked.
