I have had two sores on the inside of my mouth for a few days now. One is on the upper lip and one on the lower lip, neither one anywhere near the other. Both are on the wet part of the lip, kind of near where the lip meets the gums. They look like canker sores- swollen red area with a crater-like white patch in the center. However, I didn't think that you could get more than one canker sore at a time. Also, when I kissed my gf a few days ago she says that she got a canker sore the next morning when she woke up- I didn't think they were contagious but I didn't think cold sores erupted that fast after transmission. Are these two sores canker sores or cold sores?

tomAtoes.....tOmatos....if you want to get rid of it fast, you have to freeze the $#it out of it ! Simply get an ice cube, and put it on one side, or move it around, and KEEP IT ON there until you absolutely can't stand it anymore ! It works. It will begin the healing process.

I get canker sores on the inside of my mouth, I'm surprised to hear that you gf got one though, because they are not the same thing as cold sores, and are not contagious. I use hot water, and some salt and gargle my mouth out with it. I notice I get mine when I'm super stressed so you might want to chill out if something stressful is going on in either or your lives. Baking Soda will also work to dry up the canker sore, but it hurts, unless you have high pain tolerance. Good Luck, and talk to your dentist if they don't go away.

If they are cold sores which they sound more like canker sores ..but we will start with a home treatment for them you can take a tea bag and soak it with water just to start it to brew and then hold it on the affected area for 20 mins at a time a few times a day, the tannic acid helps ease the pain and helps dry up the ulcer. You can also purchase a over the counter vitamin called L-lysine and increase that in your daily diet and in your girl friends as well. This is a great preventative med for people who suffer from canker sores and from cold sores. Another option which will burn for a moment but will help in the end is to take baking soda and place just enough to cover the sore and yes it will soon just go away with your mouth salavia but it does indeed have enough time to help with the germs...hence the baking soda in toothpaste ; ) Now, the more expensive options are to call your dentist and ask him/her for a medication for cold sores depending on if they are in your mouth or on the outside you will have to tell them...IF they are inside you would have to ask for a pill called "Acyclovir" it is used to treat herpes ...but cold sores are also a form of herpes just a different strain...but it can be treated with the same medication and it does a wonderful job! And it also comes in a ointment as well and you could also ask for this if you would prefer. If your dentist would not prescribe it your family dr. probablly would. It's not that uncommon for them to do it. This reduces the problem in very few days. I hope this helps and best of luck and be sure if you get the medicine tell the Dr. your gf is infected also so you get enough for her also ; )

Go see a doctor if they are spreading. There are many things that can cause this. stress, herpes, fever, illness, chrones disease. Not cool that the girlfriend has it too.
