Windows and vents. Check to see windows are sealed when not open and that the air filters in the heating and cooling systems are clean

An air purifier could help as well as filters that fit over your vents. My Allergy Doctor advised me to get vent filters for every room in my house especially my bedroom. If you are a smoker don’t smoke in the bedroom because that tends to build up on furniture and is like a dust magnet. There are also furniture polishes that act as repellents so you don’t have to dust as often. Keeping windows closed also helps.. Hope this helped..

Dust Bunnies

I went to visit my sister just to sit and chat awhile,
She offered me some coffee -- I said "yes, please" with a smile.
While she was in the kitchen I had time to glance around,
This woman's house was really clean -- and no dirt could be found.
Everything was very neat; no dust that I could see;
I clean my house, and do my best -- but this girl sure beats me!

And as she talked about her kids, I sat there deep in thought,
If I left not finding something wrong, I'd really be distraught.
I don't know why I felt that way, unless I was just jealous,
But, hey, I try (well, not too hard) -- she just seems over-zealous.
"I have to go and freshen up," I told her -- really sly,
Just had to check the other rooms, and I felt like a spy.

I looked into her bedroom -- and admired the hardwood floor,
And the bedspread was so pretty -- just a wrinkle, nothing more.
One last attempt to find some dirt -- I got down on my knee;
There were lots of little Dust Bunnies just looking back at me!
Well, of course I had to tell her 'cause I didn't think she knew;
She looked at me, and calmly said, "I 've been saving them for you."

The moral of this story is ... no matter how you try,
Dust is sure to build up somewhere as the days go swiftly by,
And life's too short to worry if Dust Bunnies come around,
After all, they must live somewhere -- just keep them safe and sound.
So check yourself, under your bed, and I bet that you'll see,
Dust Bunnies looking back at you, and they're living there for free!

(1) Dust bunnies consist of any number of things, including pet and human hairs, pillow feathers, insect parts, clothing bits and other fibers, soil, mold spores, meteor dust, pollen, yeast, and God knows what else.

(2) They form under your bed because that's where they find "still air pockets," where they can grow unmolested. You want to get rid of them, get rid of the air pockets--e.g., plop ze mattress on ze floor.

Dust bunnies may also be found in ducts and vents, where they get blown by air currents, or stuck to spiders' webs on ceilings or in corners.

They're arguably more prevalent in winter, because the windows are closed and the breeze doesn't disperse them. Keep those windows open year-round and I guarantee you'll never complain about dust bunnies again.

Keep the room vaccuumed with a good brand like a dyson which doesn't allow dust to escape again and dust down the surfaces with a cloth soaked in fabric softener to reduce static to help prevent dust from re-settling.

There are some places where it's just plain dusty all around.

If it's really a bad problem, you could try taking out the carpet and replacing it with area rugs where you want your feet to be comfortable, and washing the curtains. And invest in an air cleaner to pull dust and pollen out of the air before it settles on your furniture.

Vacuuming your house with a special filter will get rid of dust. Vacuum regularly those things in your house that are covered with fabric because fabrics tend to collect dust. If you have carpets, keep those vacuumed as often as possible because carpet collects more dust than anything else in your house. Make sure to use a HEPA filter to avoid spreading dust around your home.

Getting rid of your carpets will reduce the amount of dust in your home. As I mentioned above, carpets collect and retain more dust than any other surface in your home, making it almost impossible to reduce dust levels and the number of dust mites in your home. Linoleum, slate, marble, and wood floors with smaller washable rugs are a good substitute. Hard floors are incredibly easier to clean than carpet.

Air filters will help get rid of dust. If you have a central air conditioning system, it might be wise to ask the manufacturer what steps can be taken to reduce the amount of dust circulation. You should also change the air filters in your heating system if you have a forced air system. Just make sure to change your air filters regularly, duh.

Bedding and curtains should be washed regularly if you want to get rid of dust. Beds should be covered with those nylon pee-pee covers to make cleaning easier and to prevent dust mites from infesting the mattress. Sheets, pillows, blankets and curtains should all be washed in water that is no less than 130 degrees Fahrenheit.

# Use wet mops and wet dust cloths, never dry ones.
# Keep pets out of the bedroom, and certainly off the bed.
Cover pillows, mattress and box springs with dust-proof casings
Don't use feather pillows or comforters.

Dust is made up from all kinds of things, like dead skin, pollen from outside, and lots of other natural occuring materials. The best way to get rid of it is, use a vacuum cleaner with a hepa filter to erradicate all the smaller particles and polish the surfaces in your bedroom with a good anti static cleaner...
