I discovered that I was blocked from viewing questions and answers by what I presume to be three TROLLS---no real big deal.
Travelled a bit further and found that a regular YAPPER has also blocked his answers and questions from my view.
Do I, RIGHTLY OR WRONGLY presume some sinister undertones?

BIG P
This is the part that somewhat worries me. Its a cut and paste from Yahoo blog on the new blocking feature:
"You can block a user by either selecting Block User in their avatar rollover or by clicking on Block User on their profile page. Blocked users will not be able to view your Q&A or your Network on your public profile page. They will also be blocked from becoming your Fan. A list of Blocked users will appear on your private profile under the new Blocked Users tab, located next to your Contacts and Fans.

We will be reviewing the Blocked User lists, investigating people who have been blocked by multiple members of the community and taking appropriate action on a regular basis. By blocking trolls, you are helping clean up Answers and improving the Answers community."

So what happens if 10 or 20 Trolls block me or anyone else? We all know our Troll Masters can produce many of their minions (at least for the moment).

Felicity
I am not disputing their rights to using the feature after all they are human, sort off.
The feature is not, at present, protecting regular users but is in fact assisting the Trolls and their Masters.

Hey Chuck, I think people are just trying to protect themselves.
I just made my answers private also because of trolls so don't take offence to that.
As for being singled out and blocked, that is another story.
I would be a little suspicious of that.
Any how, have a nice day.

You would think that for a scammer they would at least be intelligent about it. I do agree with the other poster and to me, this is as generic as it gets. It has so many grammatical errors and it's not even worded properly, totally unprofessional (definitely a red flag). Since this is a very generic email, it means that this email is sent in masses to multiple people sometimes even spamming the same recipient with the same email. If a serious and PROFESSIONAL photographer needed an assistant for hire, they would not get potential employees via email but by ad or website ad even then, they wouldn't ask for information such as the ones you have stated especially gender and age because of certain laws that protect against discrimination (I'm not a law expert but that's a no brainer). They would also want to INTERVIEW you and prove their credibility. If anything is suspicious or odd in nature or sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Honestly, I have yet to use that block feature. In the first place, I have no clue as to who to block. Okay, okay...no more excuses.......truth is, I don't know how it works...dumb me!!!

Seriously I have my doubts if this block system would indeed work. If only a good percentage of the people here at Y!A (the entire network) has some modicum of decency, then it ought to work. But we all know that's not the case...a bad apple grows everyday and their numbers increase by geometric progression. Still, we stay on --- the good has to prevail!

Cheers!

Well maybe you became one of the victims. About 3 days ago I read about a member who aired about allan y who was blocked. But he cannot pin point the troller of the culprit. I think this will reach the management attention to preempt more victims.

They have the right to do such thing, Big Chuck coz it's their profile. Explorer is right but those trolls are using this blocking system as their defense mechanism from their victims and are commonly over utilized by the gremlins. <*-*>

ADD:
I get your point Big Chuck that's why I'm still dismayed coz Y/A is still used and abused by those trolls and gremlins. <*-*>

I really don't know and understand what this blocking method is doing for the benefit of yahoo answers.
I know about the harassment of trolls and maybe we all don't know what's really going on with yahoo officials and what they know. This is probably way beyond our level.
