Yes we have section 497 of the Indian Penal Code that provides for this infidelity as Adultery:--Whoever has sexual intercourse with a person who
Is and whom he knows or has reason to believe to be the wife of
Another man, without the consent or connivance of that man, such
Sexual intercourse not amounting to the offence of rape, is guilty of
The offence of adultery, and shall be punished with imprisonment of
Either description for a term which may extend to five years, or with
Fine, or with both. In such case the wife shall not be punishable as
An abettor.
As you see this punishment is only for man either married or unmarried who engage in sexual intercourse with only a married woman not with unmarried woman, secondly the said woman whether married or unmarried engaged in this adultery either with a married man or unmarried man is not be punished at all for such an offence. Apart from this provision the ground of adultery can also be used for the purpose of obtaining decree of divorce from such an adulterous husband or wife under most of the enactments of dissolution of marriage applicable to Indian.

In India, only a man can be guilty of adultery as a criminal offense. The offense is if a man has sex with a woman married to someone else. Thus, an adulterer does not even need to be married.
If a mans wife agrees to have sex with another man and does so then he is guilty of adultery under Indian Law.
Adultery and infidelity are also civil grounds for a divorce but they are not criminal offenses as far as I can find out.

As per the law, the lady will not get anything from her present husbnd and the person with whom she is involved will be punished and divorce will be easy. Sometimes some financial claims can be made if the woman is earning.

This case will be under characterlessness and treachery. Consult a lawyer regarding the same.

No, there is no law as per indian law, but u can punish your partner by following the natural law, maybe the basic primitive law of 'an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth'. There are many variation by which u can be one up on your erring partner.

Why would you want to even sink that low? Are you obsessing over a failed marriage? Yes, it hurts when you are betrayed but that is not going to help you get over it. I found out my husband cheated on me a month ago and he promptly moved out. He has never appologized for his actions and I don't think he ever will. When it's all said and done, I'm washing my hands of it and moving on. I am seeing a counselor to deal with the situation. I want to eventually be happy again. Being bitter and angry will only make you hold onto the hurt and you will never get over it until you learn to let go. You could also prevent yourself from potentially getting involved with someone in the future who could possibly make you very happy. Don't do this to yourself.

Actually there is. You can sue a person/s for commiting such an act. You would be sueing for your spouse commiting adultry. They would both (lover and spouse) be involved in the process. Afterwards you would then file for divorce.

Scalping! Actually, the best punishment is when the adulterer looses his spouse and realizes that he/she is with a person much better.
