Does anyone have any experience with this type of card for broadband connection?

My understanding is that you just need to buy the card, install it and provided you get a signal you can access the internet?

Well, it isn't that simple. Unless there is a public access point within range (200-300 feet max) even with the card you can't connect to the internet. Most of these charge for a subscription just like DSL or Cable connections.

You can get your own wireless router which connects to the internet and connect to it but you still have to have an internet connection at your location.

So unless you know there is a way to connect it wont work. If you are thinking of using your neighbors internet it is a fedral crime unless you have their permission.

Yup, thats about it. Providing you get a mobile phone signal for the provider then you will be able to access the internet. T Mobile do a card with HDPSA which is 1.8mps broadband so faster than 3g and so do vodaphone. Cant answer for the others but you can put a USB module on and thats it. Job done
