Hello, I'm a secondary 4 student, my physics teacher ordered my class to come up with a contraption that can catch three eggs dropped from the third floor without breaking. If you have any ideas, tips, or even links to good websites, pease tell me, thanks:)

have nets of varying tensions, the difference in tensions of each net will make the egg retard (negative accelerate) slowly, which by F=ma will reduce the force on the egg, and hence they wont breaks, have the least tension on top , and the most tension on the bottom, have 4 or 5 nets, and give them a spacing on 5,4,3,2,1 cm, as you go down, hope that helps.

How much is it aim dependant? You could take a kitchen garbage pail, fill it full of water, soften the water by mixing in some liquid hand soap and mixing well. The softened water should accept the eggs without breaking. Have a hole cut in the side of the garbage pail with a run off tube that will spill over into a resivoir. Have a pump that moves water from the resivoir up to the garbage pail so it continually needs to drain. You may want to put som loose netting under the spillage hose to catch the eggs as they come through. could also work bu continually filling the bucket with a garden hose and just catching the egg onto some kind of net as the egg exits the hole in the side of the garbage container.

Use a net which is stretched below and not too tightly. Put some soft matting on the net to minimise the impact of the egg. Get the tension etc. right by a few trials.

so ap physics is simply rather rough, and as continually is dependent upon the instructor as good (is he/she a well instructor? plenty or little paintings, and many others...) additionally is dependent upon what else you're taking whilst you're taking ap physics, if the opposite categories don't seem to be rough and you'll awareness at the magnificence, then it relies and it is dependent upon you, and the way the area is for you, and the way rough you desire to paintings at it sorry if this does not support, however there are plenty of elements...
