To a certain degree, yes.
But its difficult to know who is or isn't trustworthy.
I suppose its like real life when you meet someone in a pub and don't know them, you got to use gut instinct.

Well i can honestly say all the women on my 360 are wonderful and im honoured they have let me get to know a little about them, the guys on the other hand there are 3/4 i chat with sometimes and they are really nice guys and have 3/4 friends off 360 on my messanger they are great fun and always make me laugh.
One a guy is very intense and seems nice but im not trusting, he wants to know too much about me and i dont know him that i dont like
So yes i think you can get to know a side of people online but not all people are as the first seem.
With me what you see and read is what you get, im always this way , lol xxx

I think that would depend. If the person is being completely honest about themself and sincere, then you would get to know them.
However, I'm guessing that the majority of people use sites as an opportunity to be the person that they want to be, rather than the person that they actually are. And since you can never really know for sure, then I suppose you can't really get to know anyone properly.

in a way, you do get to see people personalilities however you will still be a mile off knowing what the person is really like.
for example look at peoples avatar's on here, ive yet to see an ugly female avatar and im pretty sure yahoo dont operate a ban minger policy

You can get to know people as much as they want to show who they are. Of course, people being people do not always show who they really are, but in many cases just who they would like to be.
So saying, it is very easy to see those of an ugly nature on here, if only those that are honest with it.

You might. If you follow one person with all of his/her answers & questions, you can tell their personality and the way they think.
However, if you say "get to know" someone, that may be hard because people on line are different than people in real life.

No becouse lots of people would like to be younger slimmer smarter faster etc and on these sites they get to be all that again

I think that you can get to appreciate their humour and outlook online. They may not always measure up in real life, but hey, I would be happy to meet up if I liked their style. Just to put a face to them would be cool. You can never have to many friends.

What I feel, especially on P&S, is to know someone's sense of humor, or if they are critical or opinionated. Their personality traits seem to show in their questions and answers. But to really get to "know" someone is not so easy, even in real life.
