What surprises me is that most people would never consider giving all their assets to a cult group, live on the cult farm, and work for the cult for 3 squares and a cot. Yet, this is what socialism offers.
Independence allows freedom of choice. Creating government departments to provide services like healthcare cedes freedom of choice to the government. Empowering the government to decide the "common good" cedes more freedom of choice.
It's clear to me that the upcoming 08 election is going to be a vote on socialism. Should socialism win, most of the liberties and freedoms we enjoy in America will evaporate.
I am a liberal, but I am not a socialist. Socialism breeds mediocrity. Socialism cedes all power to the government. Socialism allows the government to coerce the people.
It is disturbing that so many Americans are falling for the allure of the promise of an easy life. They fail to see the shackles that are awaiting.

Free market medical insurance - I have to go to the doctor in my group. Unless I choose to pay myself. If I want to pay myself, though, I can send my child to any school I want to.
Guns are only an issue in urban areas, rural democrats own guns.
Your future, if you can get a degree, is not limited to McJobs; but democrats want to help you pay to get your degree.
The state already tells me in many places that if I am gay or lesbian i cannot legally get a second parent for my child, thereby telling me how to raise by child.
Fake dreams of being better off than you parents, actually in the last 30 years men in their thirties are falling abour 12% behind their fathers in what they earn (survey based on census figures and conducted by a diverse group of think tanks); the bread and circuses are what is keeping you all from acknowledging that.
It's all in how you look at it sweetie.

I agree with you on these three: McDonald's is your future even with a college degree, the state will tell you how to raise your children and bread and circuses to the people to keep them stupid. But these are happening under the current Republican administration.
Greater income gap between the rich and the poor. Globalization of trade and 3 million manufacturing jobs lost, forcing many into low paid service jobs such as McDonalds..
More religion in the schools means the state is telling you how to raise your kids.
Circuses - one type is right wing propaganda and manipulation of facts to deceive the public.
Great question, though, for either side.

I am a Democrat and hate taxes.
Every time a Republican is elected, inflation skyrockets and I end up in a higher tax bracket, with less buying power.
I cannot choose any doctor because I cannot afford health care any more.
At least at McDonalds I would have food.
Legal Guns for conservative terrorists.
Are Republican politicians better than Democrats, or just better liars?

Women's reproductive organs are actually owned by the government
Cons always trying to make schools and public broadcasting worse
You can criticize the President as long as he isn't a Republican
Bread and circuses to the people to keep them stupid.

Millions given to wealthy corporations and individuals who don't need it. Unjustified tax cuts that will be rolled back later.
* Yes you can choose your own doctor. * Not true, You can enroll you kid in another school if need by - I did this 3 times * Guns are not going away. Americans won't stand for it * Never worked for McDonalds, never will * Laws concerning child raising are rife in both parites and if you want bread and circuses, watch FOX.

Sounds about right. and the circus clowns will just keep lining up to put them in power. It amazes me how people who are on the drawl keep complaining about about not being able to get ahead, all the while putting the same ones back time and time and time. Here you have Jefferson caught with a freezer full of cash, but he the "victim" Get real. The blind leading the blind, except the leading blind know where they are leading the lead.
By the way, love the handle, as the liberals would say, "resistance is futile" and you know what? "momma Borg from First Contact" does remind me of Hillary, does't she?

One of the problems with a representative democracy is you have to choose your representatives wisely. There are so many career politicians that don't vote the way the people want, but rather are voted on based on their celebrity status. Then democracy can fail if they vote in enough laws that take power away from the people and give it to the government.

Yep Locutus - when you have no valid argument against real policies invent your own.
Some people pay more than 30% tax now.
Who said? There are many universal healthcare systems that allow for the choice of doctor. I have not heard any Dem advocate what you are saying.
Dems are in favour of school choice - just not of using vouchers to rip money out of the public system to subsidize the private ones.
Don't remember seeing any Dem bills to revoke the 2nd amendment.
McDonalds??? What is this about.
