In my network, two server is configured static ip and 1 work group is DHCP. We have router which is used as gateway. so everyone can access internet. now some people is downloading big files and the internet is getting very slow. is there any possible way that i can block user not to download and use video chatting or something like that so other user will not need to wait ages to check their mails??? please help me

depending on the number of users in your network you should have a managed switch between the router to the Internet and the users. then you just have to reset the counters in the am and it's very easy to tell who is downloading files by the amount of traffic on each switch port. then you can throttle down their speed by setting the ports of the heavy users to 10 mps and half -duplex with out the use of software

It sounds to me like you are the computer administrator. Change their account types to restrict their priviledges. Also, some routers are capable of filtering what people can do. If you are using a Linksys router then go to the "url" 192.168.1.1

This is your router, and you will be prompted for a password.

By default, the username is blank and the password is "admin" (without the quotes).

Settings are in there.
