Someone posted a question referring to the 'piltdown man' - which I promptly googled and was intrigued to learn something new.

Anyone else got some little gems? Always good to learn new things.... Perhaps we can all learn something new today.

My interesting fact is, that in nearly every species of mammal, the female outlives the male... Rock on sistas!

1) If you eat a Polar Bear's liver you can get Vitamin A poisoning.
2) I was born on Memorial Day, and it too now changes around, but I get a 3 day holiday every year.

there are many more than 3 states of matter (solid, liquid, gas) there are 15 mentioned in the book of general ignorance (published in 2006), although more are apparently discovered almost daily. my particular favourite is bose-einstein condensate which, at a tiny fraction of a degree above absoloute zero, if put into a beaker, will actually climb out and 'de-beaker' itself. fascinating.
other interesting facts in tht book include the fact that we are technically in an ice-age, that the ostrich lays the samllest egg for its size and that a chicken can live two years without a head.

A pointless, if interesting fact is that if you were to travel from London to Glasgow at the speed required to break away from the pull of gravity (as the Space Shuttle going to the International Space Station) .... it would take you all of 6 seconds to do the journey.

I was born on labor day, September 5, 1955. My mother was not amused by the way. Since then, Labor day has only fallen on September 5th, seven times. This could explain my arrested emotional development! Anybody know how long it will be before it happens an eighth time?

1.) I own one of the world largest privately held Swarovski Crystal collections, in my humble opinion.

2.) You can pretty much kill me, by shoving a raw squid in my face. I am DEATHLY allergic to squid, shrimp and all shellfish type critters and that includes snails......jellyfish, and other slimy things......but squid is off the charts. It can drop me in seconds.

3.) I have birthmark on my left leg, in the *exact* same spot my grandfather had one......and he died right before I was born.......so my grandmother eerily thought that he died, so I could be born......and he gave me his birthmark.

4.) In the Navy, I did something NO ONE had ever done before, and won a Navy Achievement Medal for my efforts.

5.) I often time travel here and go back into the past to answer 8 year old questions, that no one will ever see.....simply because I can, and it amuses me to no end.

2 out of 3 people are more likely to believe a lie, it if stastistics are used while explaining the 'fact'. Im serious try it out
