Well not all of us pray for long life. I hope I die with as little pain as possible but I don't want to live so long that I become an invalid who must be cared for all the time.
I also don't believe in fate or destiny. I don't think there is a time decided for my death and I don't think every failure is unavoidable nor every success pre-determined. If that were true then whats the point? If I succeed then I can be proud because it was my doing not a part of some preprogrammed course. Regardless of the power of god, you cannot be judged as worthy or not if you had no choices or options. Its not a valid judgment its simply an arbitrary decision if that is the case. If there is a god and if god judges your actions then there is no fate but what you make.

First of all God can change our destiny if we ask while we are still alive and it is only natural we want to live as long as possible but it is up to God when our life on earth ceases to be.

In fact we hope that our destiny is the way we want it when we pray about such things. I also think that God can do whatever He wants but we can't influence Him with just our prayers, it needs something more than that.

I am a follower of Christ and this is what I have to say. God would never give something bad to you. He doesn't "punish" people like so many people says he does. The one person that would ever try to hurt you is Satin, and the prayer you sent to god has nothing to do with you getting those STDs. He would also never take them from you to "give" to someone else. That's terrible that you would want someone else to have that! If you pray for him to heal you, with all your heart and trusting in his abilities to heal you, you WILL be healed. So my answer to you, is god is real, but he hasn't answered your prayer yet. =)

How do you know that your destiny cannot be changed when you just do not know anything about the next minute in your life?

U will have to consider that at the time of praying we don't know when our end is,but praying nevertheless gives us instantaneos satisfaction & peace of mind which we will miss if we don't pray,so better to die happy than sad.

Ok destiny is ALREADY WRITTEN OUT by God BEFORE you were born, everything u did was there before you were born. So maybe destiny made you pray for longer life so you would get longer life. Duh

why you want to live longer? prayer, with deep involvement in it, gives strength to face(fight) the calamities of life without being tense. It gives you calmness to accept the good blisses without becoming egoist. prayer from deep heart is necessary.

Good question....STAR

Prayer's main contribution is not the result prayed for, it is a bigger thing, namely, peace of mind.
