I think that if Aristotle would have lived in our days, he wouldnt think like that.
In ancient times, a person as Aristotle, that was a thinker and that didnt allow himself to be influenciated by another pple, was a wise.
In our days, if a person do what Aristotle made in ancient Greece...would be called insane.
That is product of our cultural differences.
Who is able in our days to live without a pay job??
He had all the time to think, and didnt need a job for living. We dont think so much nowadays about philosophy, bcoz are so much busy earning our salaries.

Since I have to pay to eat (or do anything else) I put my mental health & interest in what I'm doing over any monetary gain. So I make a little bit less doing what I do than being an office grunt... I like what I do for a living, and that makes a simple lifestyle worthwhile.

many people take their job as
-greatest achievement and kill themselvs at it, work over time, at parties, at home all they talk about is job related stuff. Some focus ontheir job only, forgetting about other aspects of life. So u dont really develop, u do but in a very narrow way, and life is diverse and people dont have a minute to notice it, they work they consume, seldom they create smth. but noone was put in here to slave. paid jobs make a slave out of a person, most of the times

Someone once said to me," That's why you see so many homeless people pushing shopping carts collecting aluminum cans".

Better to sleep in a ditch than do something routine and slave over your paycheck...

Hence alternatively, the self-made multi-millionaires that don't slave for nobody but themselves under their terms and their conditions.....Better to be your own boss....
