I snacked 4 beetroots yesterday.. This morning my poo is a raspberry colour (sorry for the info!)

Is this okay??
It’s never happened before...
Are you meant to limit the amount of beetroot you consume in a day?

A month ago my poo was lime green (not sure of the reason) is my body not digesting the food properly??

Thanks for all the constructive answers!!! X

This all reminds me of the very old joke - Patient (P) to Doctor(Dr): "Every time I eat peas I crap peas, and every time I eat carrots I crap carrots. Doctor, what would you suggest I do?"
Dr (after some thought): "Well, I suggest you eat crap" ! ! !

Beetroot Poo

Hope it doesn't put you off from beetroot because it's a good food for moving things along as you can see from experience. It's natural. Sometimes the wee even gets tinted a nice pink shade. But make sure it's after you have eaten something like that, otherwise it may be something else! The colour should disappear in 2 dumps. Maybe 4 in one sitting is a bit OTT. It could give you the runs if your're not careful. Everything in moderation is the golden rule, even for poo.

Yes, many people find their stools (and more commonly urine) turn red after a large beetroot intake. This is completely normal. The colour in beetroot, betanin, is not degraded in the body and if you ate enough, it can colour the urine and stools. If you're worried, don't eat any more beetroot and keep an eye on your stools. If they're red in a day or two, visit your doc (take a small sample in a jar) so they can test for blood (which would then require investigation as it could have a serious underlying cause).

As long as you have no pain or other symptoms with the reddened poo, there should be nothing to worry about.

Certainly the beetroot colored your poo. And when you had the green poo, you probably had eaten something to color it green. I know that excess bananas, spinach, and other green things have caused that before.
I don't know about limiting beetroot.

It's completely normal for some strong coloured foods to stain like that. When my son was small I used to make all his food myself and he loved mashed potatoes with beetroot. His poo would always be a dark pink and his wee was alos pink.

sounds like its just the effects of the beetroots. if its still the same colour in a week's time contact your doc. No, there isn't really a limit on the amount of beetroot you should eat. Obviously, if you eat excessive amounts of it your poo and wee will change colour. hope this helps.

hahaha, lol.

This is the only reason my kids eat beetroot.

Dont worry about it.

Eat enough red liquorice and the same effect will be seen.

You will even find (sorry for details, lol) that the poo will 'bleed' beetroot colour into the toilet water too.

It will only last for at most a day and the colour will fade each time you use the bog.

Dont worry. all of the natural colourings in beetroot make your poo purplish. Your excrement just takes on the colour of your digested food. Its all natural baby.
