Home schooling is the cause for that. Denial is just part of the home schooling mind control that their parents guilt-ed them with, and removed them from the real society outside. You know don't run in Gods church, he will get you, don't play with Gods piano, God will get you, don't befriend Liberals, God will get you, and so on.

Evolution is a theory the same way that creationism is a theory, neither can be proven without a shadow of a doubt so they are only theory. Yes evelution has happened we are taller now then we were 100 years ago, but did we come from monkeys? Probably not. There has never ever been one piece of scientific evidence that we ever came from any kind of monkey we are not linked by DNA in any way shape or form, and there are not any artifacts that we came from monkeys or any other animal for that matter. We are also not linked thru DNA to neanderthal man. I believe Evolution is a theory, and could be possible, but I also belive creationism is a theory, and is possible. There is no scientific evidence to prove either just theory and speculation, but I bet you are in denial that it is only a theory. I bet you take evolution as a fact because that's what someone told you in school?

I find it frightening. Evolution is not the only explanation for how the animal and plants worlds are. I'm sure you've heard of Creationism. It's a very different belief. It's also simple: God made everything this way. Period.
People with few years of education really love a simple explanation. People with more religious education than regular school education understand Creationism (or they think they do), and don't understand Evolution. Evolution is NOT simple. It is often simplified by people who want to make fun of it, like preachers and priests. Of course a simplification is not going to help people understand it.
If you think you understand Evolution, just try to explain it to someone who wants to learn it! Their questions are very likely to stump you.
The frightening statistic you put in your question is quite understandable because the quality of education is so poor in so many places.
Many teachers who think they understand Evolution in fact, do not. They teach it poorly. Anyone who is taught something poorly is unlikely to understand it. They may even reject it. This happens a lot.

"Belief" in evolution seems just as valid as "Belief" in creationism. Just because more people "believe" in something doesn't make it more logical. Consider the question os the origin of life itself. The theory of "Spontaneous generation" was disproved long ago. That is, life always comes from other life. it doesn't form from nothing. Consider the complexity of a cell. It is so complex that mankind cannot even make a protein let alone RNA or DNA. All the parts of any known cell have to be assembled all at once in exactly the right order or the cell dies. The Theory of entropy (second law of thermodynamics) states that all things fall apart. In other words, before something with molecules that complex could form in nature, it would decompose. In order to believe in Evolution, you have to believe that spontaneous generation actually happened and that the second law of thermodynamics is flawed. Me, I believe God created life. I think the scientists that disproved spontaneous generation and that proved the second law of thermodynamics were right.

I am honestly surprised by this. Do you have a source?
I know that there is an extremist fundamentalist streak running through the GOP but I really did not think there were this many still living in the 18th century.
If this number is right how do the 32% feel about being part of a party that rejects modern science?

It does not scare me that they refuse to accept evolution. I myself do not accept creationism, so I say that makes us about the same. It is scary though that they cannot seem to separate church and state as the Constitution dictates. Too many wars have been fought and too much blood has been shed over the differences in religions. It is time for everyone to accept the fact that people have different views in this world and let's not try to force people to all think the same way.

The republicans are an anachronism. They are really intellectual dinosaurs. If the electorate educated itself the republicans would disappear from America.

A lot of religious scholars believe that 'a day' in the Bible referred to a period of time - not 24 hours.
If so, it may be you who is living in denial.

I don't think "belief" has any place in scientific method. I think someone could disbelieve evolution, yet still be a good evolutionary biologist.
